About Friendship Diversion Services
Friendship Diversion Services is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 1979 in Olympia, WA. Since its inception, Friendship has been dedicated to providing supervised alternatives within the criminal justice system, aiming to restore defendants, victims, benefit the community and reduce crime-related expenses. This mission is accomplished through programs that allow defendants to take responsibility for their actions while positively contributing to the community.
In 2006, Friendship expanded its mission to include safe and reliable electronic monitoring services, providing agencies with innovative solutions to support offender supervision and public safety. We currently provide these services to the following counties: Thurston, Lewis, Mason, Clallam, Okanogan and Whatcom. In addition, we offer electronic monitoring services throughout Washington State, including both western and eastern counties. Our extensive statewide experience demonstrates our capacity to manage diverse caseloads across multiple jurisdictions while maintaining consistent service quality, compliance and responsiveness to agency needs.
Friendship Diversion provides an alternative to jail incarceration for pre-trial and sentenced offenders. The purpose is to monitor and assist defendants by directing them toward accountability, self-motivation and skill enhancement.
Friendship Diversion enables offenders to stay out of jail, keep their employment and maintain positive, productive relationships with their families and their communities.
Defendants may be required or encouraged to participate in treatment programs or counseling, seek gainful employment, complete community service or to pursue academic opportunities.
